The series is held from November 2024 to March 2025. The talks will address this issue through case studies - Nigeria, Mozambique, Kenya and Central African Republic - to enable the reflection on practical examples of counteracting extremist narratives that incite to violence.

All sessions are from 2.30 to 5.00 pm, with a coffee-break.

The debates will be in English and/or Portuguese, with available translation. Participation is free.

22.11.2024 | Nigeria | Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra, partnership with the CES - Centre for Social Studies

03.12.2024 | Mozambique | University of Évora

March 2025 | Kenya | Autónoma Lisbon University, partnership with the OBSERVARE - Observatory of Foreign Relations

March 2025 | Central African Republic | University of Minho, partnership with the CICP - Research Centre in Political Science

The debates are focused on conflict prevention and resolution in Africa, bringing to the fore the instrumentalisation of religion to justify violence. Key international and national stakeholders will share their views on the role of interreligious dialogue in preventing violent extremism and in peacebuilding.

This a joint initiative of the Club of Lisbon and KAICIID - International Dialogue Centre, in partnership with Portuguese Universities
